PRE-ORDER: 'Groupies' TPB by Helen Mullane, Tula Lotay, and Dee Cunniffe

An early look at GROUPIES, the lurid, slasher-tinted horror graphic novel from celebrated filmmaker and writer Helen Mullane (Nicnevin and the Bloody Queen, Lifeforms) and Eisner-winning artist Tula Lotay (Somna, Barnstormers, Supreme: Blue Rose), with electrifying color from Dee Cunniffe (Crossover, Redneck) and sharp, era-perfect lettering from Richard Starkings and Comicraft’s Tyler Smith. Inspired by real-life interviews with teenage girls in 1970s fanzines, Groupies shatters the male gaze with a shifting point-of-view narrative that lets each girl tell her own story.

Groupies is a deeply personal book, born from mine and Lisa’s shared obsession with pulp horror, music, and the strange contradictions of being a woman in the world. We wanted each girl’s voice to shine through—because groupies aren’t just muses or clichés, they’re complicated, messy, and real. I’m thrilled to be teaming with Mad Cave for the print release, giving readers the full, woozy experience of Tula Lotay’s stunning art—plus some new extras that make our trippy, dangerous world even richer.”
— Writer, Helen Mullane

Groupies has been a labour of love for Helen and I” said Tula Lotay. “We both share so many interests in horror and music of the time. She had me pulled in at 'what if the satanic panic is real, and we follow a group of badass Groupies finding that out'. That era is so rich with dark stories anyway. Throw psychedelics and some Argento colours into the mix and you have a story we both couldn't wait to get out there.” — Artist, Tula Lotay
