REVIEW: 'Justice Warriors' #4 by Matt Bors and Ben Clarkson

JUSTICE WARRIORS #4 Writer: Matt Bors Artist: Ben Clarkson Publisher: Ahoy Comics Release Date: September 21, 2022 Cover Price: $4.99 Continuing the smash-hit miniseries co-created by Pulitzer nominee Matt Bors! The Prince of Bubble City, feeling unpopular, orders helicopters to drop pallets of cash on the impoverished Uninhabited Zone, stirring its denizens into chaos. That, and the onslaught of the revolutionary Libra Gang, add up to another lousy shift for UZ cops Swamp and Schitt.   Score: ★★★★☆ (4/5) QUICK REVIEW: 'Justice Warriors'  grows darker by the issue which makes sense as the violence and conflict between the police and the Libra Gang escalate. There's still plenty of dark satirical humor to be found as the mercurial mayor throws literal money at a societal problem instead of attacking the systemic root cause, a ridiculous proliferation of "hella copters," and astrological sign discrimination. What makes 'Justice Warriors' weirdly special...

Pat Shand's Corrected AZZA THE BARBED #1 Shipping With Issue #2 Next Month

September 21, 2022, saw the premiere of Scout Comics’ issue #1 of Azza the Barbed , a new fantasy epic written by Pat Shand with artwork by Rio Burton and lettering by Jim Campbell, or at some of the lettering.  The issue was printed in error with the second half of the book missing all of Jim’s work.  This was not a new avant-garde approach to storytelling contributed by the creative team, it was a mistake on the publishing side.  A new printing of Azza the Barbed #1 is already in production and will be released simultaneously with the second issue of the fantasy adventure series.  Retailers are being asked to destroy the existing copies, but collectors may still be able to find some copies in stores. The series tells the story of Azza who was born into a family that, for generations, served in the Obsidian Guard, a military unit of holy warriors. During Azza's Coronation, a magical ceremony that would imbue her with a holy glowing power, something went w...
