REVIEW: 'Alice in Leatherland' #4 by Iolanda Zanfardino and Elisa Romboli

Through trial and error, both Alice and Robin continue dating people unable to find what they're looking for. It makes for some funny fodder but Alice keeps growing and shining in issue four.

QUICK REVIEW: Reading the dating escapades of Alice and Robin in 'Alice in Leatherland' #4 while funny and awkward remind me how grateful I am that I'm not single. It's hit or miss out there and when it misses it misses badly for both of these characters who seem to be circling each other before finally revealing their true feelings for one another. It's probably for the best in Alice's case because she's finding herself, growing in her sexual awareness while working at the sex-positive shop where she finds a lot of support from her co-workers. It's this growth and self-acceptance that's one of the most rewarding aspects of the series. While it's funny and engaging, you can't help but root for Alice. It seems almost inevitable for Alice and Robin to end up together. However, Robin has a temper and a way about her that's rough and edgy in total contrast to Alice's bubbly personality. It's a dynamic that will be interesting to watch going forward. Elisa Romboli's art continues to be a jubilant affair. The art is sophisticated, sharp, expressive, cartoony, and bursting with personality all in the same issue. Even the use of cell phones takes on an artistic relevance for these modern women.

'Alice in Leatherland' #4 brings our star-crossed lovers a little closer while they both venture into some catastrophic dating adventures. Alice continues to shine and feel herself. She's one of the best characters in comics right now. Again, this series proves to be a sexy but wholesome romantic comedy for the modern age.
