REVIEW: 'The House of Lost Horizons' #3 by Mike Mignola, Chris Roberson, and Leila Del Duca

At times charming and cheeky, this familiar murder mystery plot does little to propel the story with any excitement.

QUICK REVIEW: The classic who-done-it style of  'The House of Lost Horizons' provides plenty of intrigue and mystery. Sarah Jewell and Marie Therese are the feisty and fearless investigators leading the reader to profile the suspicious guests. It's not something you haven't seen before and at this stage in the series, it feels like halftime of a sporting event where you discuss what's happened thus far and try to predict the outcome. Third issues can make or break a series and this one doesn't move the needle much but doesn't break the series either.  It's a perfectly fine, charming, mystery, that doesn't try to reinvent the genre. And because of the autopilot sense of this installment readers would be better served to wait for the trade paperback to consume the entire story all at once.
