In the first release of an unprecedented 8-book deal between Scott Snyder's Best Jacket Press imprint and digital comic book distributor Comixology, 'We Have Demons' #1 launches with the prolific writer's signature immersive myth-making in an exciting new supernatural horror series.  The Comixology Originals title reunites Snyder with his 'Batman' collaborator Greg Capullo who together reignited a new era for the Dark Knight at DC Comics. This is their first creator-owned project together and it's as good as you'd expect.

Adorable teenager Lam is our protagonist and narrator. She's got quite the tale to tell and tell it she does. With this oversized first issue of 38 pages, Snyder is given the room for the long exhaustive exposition he's been known for. Lam has a casual way of explaining why her father cut off part of her arm as well as the history of the universe beginning from the Big Bang to now where the creation of the cosmos coincided with the birth of religion. The two intertwined to give way to good and evil, a tangible manifestation of angels and demons. It's heady stuff. Snyder's imagination knows no bounds and only Capullon can keep up with such fantastical ideas with a skill all his own.

Lam was daddy's girl until her suspicions about her dad's many trips away came to a head when she confronted him. His passionate and gregarious persona as a caring father and faithful pastor seemed to fade as the two grew apart. It wasn't until later that his secrets would come to light changing Lam's life forever.

The reveal changes the pace of the story. With all the myth-building and foundation set, the action picks up and Lam's true destiny is shown and Capullo is unleashed to do what he does best- rock out. Capullo has long been one of the best artists working today. His body of work speaks for itself so it's no wonder that he can do anything artistically. Do you want a sleepy little Florida cottage in the everglades? Check.  How about a montage of how the world was formed? No problem. Would you care for some hideous demons with tentacles that emerge from their guts? Absolutely. Few artists do controlled chaos like Capullo does. There are some jaw-dropping splash pages in this one. Paired with Jonathan Glapion's inks that add depth and texture to Dave McCaig's warm bold colors, 'We Have Demons' looks every bit the prestige series from the top-tier talent we were promised. If Snyder is giving us such ambitious mind-bending storytelling right out of the gate, imagine what he has in store going forward.

'We Have Demons' #1 just introduced the Snyder/Comixology collaboration with a bang, a Big Bang. Snyder and Capullo arrive like bats out of hell. The talented creative team is at their best as Snyder weaves a huge tale, Capullo wields a pencil like a magician, and as always readers get their money's worth. The fight between good and evil never ends and this new series puts a whole new spin on its origins. Supernatural horror at its finest.
