This Week In Kickstarter Comics (10/18/21)

Check out just some of this week's recommendations at Kickstarter for campaigns of interest.

Slice of Life by Kat Calamia – launching 10/18

Twitter: @ComicUno

A queer webtoon with an anime twist.

When gritty anime protagonist, Lady Vengeance, is brought to the real world by a superfan, she'll learn there's more to life than darkness and revenge… and she'll find love with the superfan's twin sister, a kind-hearted cheerleader. Slice of Life is a queer romance that deconstructs the "slice of life" genre, unpacking the importance of everyday narratives to tell a larger story about the meaning of life from the point of view of a fictional character.

Magical Girl Defense Force Volume 1 by Skyler Ammons & Alaïs Legrand

Twitter: @BT_Comics; @haosekii; @LeosVaughn

A graphic novel about a diverse cast of magical girls saving the world & trying to find fun in their military-like school lives.

In a world plagued by numerous interdimensional threats, the only saviors of mankind are the brave and fashionably cute Mystic Guardians, or as they’re more popularly referred to: Magical Girls! Once loosely separated unsung heroes fighting monsters in the shadows, the magical girls of the world are now united and organized under the global peacekeeping organization W.A.N.D., and strive to protect their world from all evil, while giving them the support network many of the original Guardians lacked. However, all of the benefits of such an organization come with the same problems: public scrutiny, regulations, and mandates, that have left the Guardians severely understaffed for the ever-increasing number of attacks from dimensional baddies such as Darkness Maw.

A comic book myth about finding your pack... and spilling some blood along the way.

Campaign live: 10/14/21 - 11/13/21

WIFWULF is an original folklore myth, a harrowing tale of a young woman on the precipice of marriage, forced to turn away from the things she most cares about... and what she'll do to get them back. It's a retelling of the classic werewolf myth and the origin of a new goddess. Dailen Ogden (The Liminal) is the artist and visionary behind the project; their creativity and passion for this character and her story were the inception point. After years of friendship with New York Times bestselling authors Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly (Kang the Conqueror, The Dark One, Green Arrow, Joyride), the three finally found the perfect point of collaboration: bringing the legend of the Wifwulf to life and transforming pain into something beautiful. At 72 pages - including 44 pages of narrative +  28 pages of beautiful additional art, process pages, and script pages -  this team has dedicated themselves to creating the most luscious version of this book possible.

Join them, and find your pack.
