QUICK REVIEW: The master of satire, comics' own Jonathan Swift, Mark Russell is back with another biting and funny series in 'My Bad' co-written with Bryce Ingman and art by Peter Krause. This is a takeoff on silver age comics with a tenor of a more innocent time played up for laughs. You have avatars for Batman and The Flash in The Chandelier and The Accelerator who are both a little self-important and selfish. The series carries Russel's signature wit and cutting observations this time in poking fun at comic book tropes and character traits. It's all played for laughs which makes it more of a parody but there's enough nuance to keep it from being completely outlandish. There's also an homage to the old days of comics with a fake ad page with ridiculous toys that aren't that far removed from the ones they actually peddled back in the day.

All in all, 'My Bad' is a fun break from "serious" comics and puts the funny in funny books. It skewers comic book tropes with a wink and a nod. It's full of cool features fans of comics will recognize and enjoy. "Important new comic book universe," indeed.
