On the rural Isle of Man, aspiring singer-songwriter Kay Farragher dreams of escaping her humdrum life. But she’s about to get more than she bargained for – and some bargains are not to be trusted...

Cold Iron is a supernatural thriller from Andy Diggle (Green Arrow: Year One, The Losers, Hellblazer) and Nick Brokenshire (Star Wars, Amelia Cole, The Once And Future Queen).

QUICK REVIEW: Kay Farragher is an aspiring singer-songwriter caught in the crossroads in different ways. She lives on the Isle of Man, between England and Ireland, and she hopes to hit the mainland and follow her dreams. She's got a loser boyfriend, just ask her superstitious grandmother who's convinced she can do better. Narrowly avoiding hitting a disoriented woman on a rain-soaked road leads to some terrifying consequences as this supernatural thriller from Andy Diggle, Nick Brokenshire, and Triona Farrell concludes with a killer cliffhanger. I'm a sucker for Celtic folklore stories and Diggle infuses this issue with local flavor and color without it feeling false or awkward.

Brokenshire's style is very grounded, allowing the characters to shine with all their quirks and expressions. The opening shot is fantastic and eerie as the story is sandwiched between two supernatural events. Farrell's warm dark colors add intimacy to the different situations as though the reader is in the room or on the run with Kay.

'Cold Iron' is off to a good start. A likable lead, a unique environment, and an ancient unspeakable terror promise a fun horror series.
