REVIEW: 'Santos Sisters' #2 by Greg & Fake

SANTOS SISTERS ISSUE # 2 (W/A) Greg & Fake What do a pair of deadly assassins, three roided-up high school football players, a zombie outbreak, and a cute dragon all have in common? You can find them all in the pages of Santos Sisters! Once again printed in full color on your favorite decadent newsprint! In Shops: Sep 21, 2022 SRP: $4.20 Website - https://www.santossisters.com/ Score: ★★★★1/2 (4.5/5) At first glance, 'Santos Sisters' is clearly influenced by the classic Archie comics that follow the Riverdale kids' wholesome shenanigans. The art style is unmistakable but after reading issue two, it was apparent what Greg and Fake have done is not a parody of all of the beloved institutions but its own universe of unique characters with a more mature attitude but no less charming or fun.  The issue consists of two stories, the first involves a zombie attack brought on by a former villainous duo Spit & Shine who had broken up and reunited for this job. The awkwar...

But when he falters, a fellow warrior illuminates a dark truth: To wear the hero's mantle in the End After End, you must seize it. Score: ★★★★ (4/5) QUICK REVIEW: Tim Daniel and David Andry have conjured up a delightful new series where in issue one we were introduced to an interesting new version of purgatory where if you survive, you're spared eternal life in heaven or hell. Not knowing your ultimate fate makes this afterlife a fair compromise until you realize you've just stepped into a very dangerous fantasy realm in the middle of a war. Walt's sudden and untimely death lands him in the mi...

Score: ★★★★1/2 (4.5/5) QUICK REVIEW: After the massively entertaining and thrilling issue four, the conclusion of the first arc in issue five had a lot to live up to. It comes close with thrills all its own and a relentless maniac in the all-too-human monster Itchy Renda. Gabby and Trudy fight for their lives in a finale that ties up some loose ends while opening new shocking storylines going forward. Kyle Starks writes a well-balanced action horror story that incorporates suspense, violence, flashbacks, flashforwards, and surprisingly touching moments that galvanize the relationship at the heart of the series.
