At first glance, 'Santos Sisters' is clearly influenced by the classic Archie comics that follow the Riverdale kids' wholesome shenanigans. The art style is unmistakable but after reading issue two, it was apparent what Greg and Fake have done is not a parody of all of the beloved institutions but its own universe of unique characters with a more mature attitude but no less charming or fun.

The issue consists of two stories, the first involves a zombie attack brought on by a former villainous duo Spit & Shine who had broken up and reunited for this job. The awkward energy of former lovers is very amusing and a running gag throughout the story. This causes the sassy and confident Santos Sisters to go into action and save the town. It's funny and entertaining watching the characters become confrontational in the realest of ways.

The second story requires the Santos Sisters to capture a cosmic dragon who's arrived from another dimension. It's a brief but amusing adventure.

Greg and Fake have a wonderful gift of putting their own spin on the Archie model and creating an equally fun but more realistic way in the characters' attitudes and language. It's like liking sparkling water but needing an extra kick so you go for the hard stuff and grab a White Claw. 'Santos Sisters' is simply a joy to read and just the right infusion of nostalgia and laughs.
