QUICK REVIEW: 'Killlchella'is the modern slasher thriller replacing sleepaway camps with a music festival in the desert. Mario Candelaria, Serg Acuna, and Katherine Lobo offer a fun and terrifying horror story set in the sunny backdrop of a festival featuring the return of a popular singer. The refreshing part of this killer-on-the-loose tale is that the characters and potential victims, young attractive people, are portrayed as just normal everyday kids. Too often they're seen as stereotypically dumb or extremely horny, and sure, they can be a little too welcoming to strangers but you'll feel bad at their demise. Acuna and Lobo have a complementary art style that blends super sharp character designs with vibrant colors, imagine Archie characters all grown up. It's the perfect juxtaposition for when these sunny designs become overwhelmed with violent death. It's a blast. 'Killchella' offers a fun and exciting slasher story that delivers jump scares for modern horror fans.
