Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino's Latest 'Tenement' Expands The Bone Orchard Mythos Horror Universe

 

From the Eisner-winning creative team behind Gideon Falls, Primordial, The Passageway, and Ten Thousand Black Feathers—Jeff Lemire and Andrea Sorrentino—comes the biggest and most essential project yet in the bold and ambitious new shared horror universe of The Bone Orchard Mythos titled, Tenement. This thrilling ten-issue miniseries is set to launch with an extra-length first issue in June from Image Comics.

In Tenement, Lemire and Sorrentino bring fans the story of seven residents in a building and the dark secrets that bind them together…beginning with a death that feels much more sinister than natural.

“Tenement is the first book I started developing in the early days of planning The Bone Orchard Mythos with Andrea Sorrentino,” said Lemire in an exclusive on the announcement at Popverse. “In many ways, it will be the centerpiece of our new horror universe up to this point. It will be our longest story so far and, like Gideon Falls, this new series will follow an ensemble of characters and the readers will really be able to spend time with them and invest in their stories. This will also be a book that starts to connect all the threads of our previous Bone Orchard books and begins to reveal the larger mythology we have been building. Andrea’s work on this one is even more mind-blowing than usual (if that’s possible)."

Tenement is the newest entry into The Bone Orchard Mythos and is perhaps best described as Dario Argento’s Inferno meets Rosemary’s Baby in a claustrophobic tale of terror, perfect for fans of atmospheric horror. The Bone Orchard Mythos is an ambitious expansion of the powerhouse creative team—Lemire and Sorrentino—and spans multiple books and across a variety of different storytelling formats. Each title in The Bone Orchard Mythos tells its own unique, self-contained tale—some as stand-alone hardcover graphic novels, some as miniseries comics, and some as longer format maxiseries comics—but they will all be set within the same world and add to the overall horrors that await within the Bone Orchard mythology. This shared horror universe includes The Passageway, Ten Thousand Black Feathers, Tenement, and more to be announced.

Sorrentino added: "Tenement has it all, honestly. It's at the same time a tense dark thriller, a deep dive into The Bone Orchard Mythos (the deepest we've got till now), and a long-awaited first connection to the many threads we showed till now in the previous Bone Orchard entries, showing things Jeff and I are eager to show to readers since day one of this project. Everything is told through the stories of seven characters—which will all be equally important tales—and penned by Jeff with his trademark care for the human side. Are you wondering what the Bone Orchard is supposed to be...? Tenement has the answer."

Tenement #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 21, and will showcase cover art by Sorrentino, Christian Ward, Martin Simmonds, and Tradd Moore.

Tenement will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
