QUICK REVIEW: 'Nemesis: Reloaded' issue one was a seismic blockbuster reintroducing Mark Millar's supervillain in an audacious way. With superstar artist Jorge Jimenez providing the adrenaline-fueled visuals, Nemesis turned Los Angeles upside down by recruiting the underworld and putting a price on cops' heads. Now, in issue two the aftermath of that bounty on cops is filling the streets with blood and putting pressure on the police chief. And that's the idea, to put the chief in a vise until Nemesis gets his hands on him. Millar makes the quick decision to delve into Nemesis' backstory, his origin, and the reasons for his overwhelming thirst for revenge. It mostly works because the flashbacks are intercut with the present-day chaos so the balance keeps the reader hooked. The origin story is a familiar one and frankly, unremarkable but does create the basis for what he's doing now and why. As usual, Jimenez brings the heat both literally and figuratively. The framing of scenes, the composition, and the panels ooze with moody shadows in a neo-noir fashion is stylistically arresting. And of course, the action is visceral and over-the-top and everything you'd expect in a Millarworld title. So, once again 'Nemesis' is off and racing with one of the darkest supervillain tales this side of the Joker with an exciting follow-up chapter to its stellar debut.
