QUICK REVIEW: The Millarworld is never out of ideas and Mark Millar's latest is quintessential Millar -  morally ambiguous, authoritative supers, and some brutal violence. World powers have been trying to create real-life superheroes for decades without much luck. One scientist cracked the code, turned herself into a powerful being, and now is offering the same opportunity to some lucky individuals if they are deemed worthy. Absconding wealth, she's doing this as an altruistic venture to the shock of governments around the world and especially to her own corporation. It's a fascinating premise that begs the question, what makes a person worthy of such a gift? The most unsurprising aspect of the book is that Frank Quietly's cinematic eye is the best in the business giving the story a larger-than-life approach, and adding weight to scenes with an expert sense of composition and art direction. With a color assist from Vincent MG Deighan, the colors are subtle and subdued except for some deliberate splashes of red that make a big impact. Intriguing, compelling, and irresistible, 'The Ambassadors' lays the groundwork for a riveting miniseries that will question what it means to be a superhero. An almost perfect debut.
