QUICK REVIEW: The war on terror takes on a new meaning when manifestations born from fear become deadly monsters and only a crack team of proteƧtors are humanity's only hope. In a wonderful new series that recalls 'Starship Troopers,' 'Men in Black,' and 'Blade Runner.' Terrowar takes place in the last bastion of habitable Earth in a tightly packed megalopolis called Blue City where Muhammad Cho leads a group of freelance contractors uniquely qualified to take on these terrors. This dystopian society still suffers from the classicism and inequities of today with wealthier citizens free of the constant barrage of propaganda that populate the landscape like pop-up ads. Cho is a working-class guy proud of his abilities and his team so his matter-of-fact narration grounds this otherwise fantastic post-apocalyptic setting. Dave Acosta, Jay Leisten, and Walter Pereyra take the issue to another level with intricately and creatively designed neighborhoods and monsters. It's a very urban area that's closely populated and Acosta's attention to detail is awe-inducing as the readers pour over every panel. The monsters, because of their randomness, can be cute but lethal or horrifying but poignant and are rendered so well, each is executed to perfection. 'Terrowar' is an exciting and great-looking new title whose heart is firmly planted in sci-fi horror action that is both fun and thought-provoking.
