Sara Frazetta Spearheads New Vampirella Series 'Dead Flowers'

 Vampirella's Frazetta Family Legacy Continues!

Just over 50 years ago, the one and only Vampirella made her debut under an iconic cover and contributions to her design from Frank Frazetta, the master of modern fantasy art. Now today Dynamite is excited to announce the next step in that legacy, as Frank's grandaughter Sara Frazetta takes on the Daughter of Drakulon as both writer and cover artist of a prestige series due out this fall and winter. Don't miss Vampirella: Dead Flowers!

As a co-founder of the Frazetta Girls, Sara has carried on her grandfather's legacy with licensing, merchandising, education, and taking on the artistic mantle herself. For this new title she is joined by co-writer and occult detective Bob Freeman and stunning artist Alberto Locatelli.

"It's such an honor for me to carry on the Frazetta legacy with Vampirella," said writer Sara Frazetta. "Now, being able to pick up that torch myself, in a small way, of course, is entirely surreal. I’ve loved Vampirella since I was a little girl."

One of Vampirella's age-old nemeses finally gives up the ghost, and that leads her to his rural Gothic estate of Rookhaven to hear out the last will and testament. Along the way, readers will get to meet the manor's eclectic staff, from a mysterious groundskeeper and his even more cryptic young daughter, to the sinister and enigmatic Mr. Frey, and more.

This thrilling tale is steeped in Gothic horror and taps into timeless tropes. Fans can expect a tone and style similar to the classic Warren magazine era when artist Jose Gonzalez made his mark and Frank Frazetta could often be found on the covers. The spooky script and Locatelli's artistic stylings capture the sinister mansion, mist-enshrouded graveyard, witches, ghosts, werewolves, and more sights that fans will love.

As mentioned, Sara Frazetta is not only writing the series but follows in her family's footsteps with a cover herself. She's joined by Lucio Parrillo, Collette Turner, Ergün Gündüz, and interior artist Alberto Locatelli on additional covers. Plus, beloved cosplayer Rachel Hollon and a special "icon" presentation of the original Frazetta painting are available too.

In addition to the new series, Dynamite is releasing an amazing new vision of the very first Vampirella magazine appearance. This time and for the first time, rather than a straight facsimile approach of Frazetta's cover, fan-favorite artist Matt DiMasi has been brought in for one of his "shattered" covers! Inside are the same history-making 64 pages that include Vampirella's genesis as well as contributions by Neal Adams, Reed Crandall, Tom Sutton, Ernie Colon, and more. This unique collage or mosaic-styled piece of art in homage to Frank's masterpiece is an incredibly unique presentation of one of the biggest key issues!

Vampirella: Dead Flowers also joins Fire and Ice in Dynamite's releases, another Frank Frazetta-originated property, and back catalog cuts like Thun'da.

Dynamite invites fans to discover that home is where the heart is — and maybe the rest of the body as well!

VAMPIRELLA: DEAD FLOWERS #1 is solicited in Diamond Comic Distributors’ August 2023 Previews catalog, the premier source of merchandise for the comic book specialty market, and slated for release in October 2023. Comic book fans are encouraged to preorder copies of the issue with their local comic book retailers. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more!
