Once upon a time, childhood friends found a magical doorway to Fairtaylia, an enchanted realm full of wizardry and wonder. 20 years later they are a bunch of self-absorbed adults who don't believe in fairytales anymore... until a talking squirrel and a chainsaw-wielding fairy show up on their doorsteps. In a fast-paced quest to save Fairtaylia from an unspeakable evil, the gang has to evade wicked witches, battle orcs, ogres, and break into Cinderella's castle while suffering through fairy farts, skimpy outfits, and several musical numbers. Good luck with happily ever after...

QUICK REVIEW: 'Back to Fairytalia' by Jorg Alberts, Roland Heep, and P.R. Dedelis has a great fun concept and potential for great adventure after laying the foundation in issue one. Tommy and his friends discover an enchanted world full of Disney-inspired talking wildlife, fantastical creatures, fairies, orcs, and witches, only to have it taken away after talking about it with adults. Now, years later, an adult Tommy reformed with years of therapy convinced the fantasy world was all make-believe is asked to return by a talking squirrel to save the world he fought to forget. The first issue covers a lot of ground so by the end readers are hooked and primed to enter Fairytalia to experience it with Tommy again. Most of the kids' time in the fairy world is depicted in a montage of mythical adventures brilliantly designed by Dedelis. The story drags a little when Tommy grows up and is forced to forget that world through extensive rehabilitation. All in all, 'Back to Fairytalia' is a fun take on fantasy that gets all the backstory out of the way so readers can dive head first into a new adventure that's sly, wicked, and cheeky.
