QUICK REVIEW: By now the overwhelming success both critically and sales-wise of Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer's 'Transformers' has put this action-packed series on everyone's pull list. The only question is if this talented creative team can sustain the extraordinary momentum leading into issue four. The answer is a resounding yes!

Picking up where the last issue left off, Starscream is determined to eliminate Optimus once and for all with Spike and Sparky along with him. Optimus rushes to get Spike some much-needed medical attention but the Decepticons remain relentless. It's another mad dash for our heroes as the bad guys are bearing down on them. DWJ delivers another stunning and exciting action sequence that vibrates with tension and eye-popping visuals. And as incredible as the action is with its surprisingly fluid motion for giant robots, it's the quiet humanity found in the small moments that ground this blockbuster title. DWJ's depictions of these characters are true to form from Optimus' dignified heroism to Starscream's unhinged violent desires, 'Transformers' bridges readers old and new in one irresistible story. Spicer's colors are the lifeblood of the series injecting a bold array of colors inherent in the robot designs along with a swirling atmosphere of destruction and chaos. Rus Wooton's clever use of sound effects adds to the whimsy and playful visuals that contribute to awe-inspiring confrontations. 'Transformers' has set an incredibly high bar for a comic like this and it continues to deliver month after month.
