Exhilarating Post-Apocalyptic Manga, 'Silence' Volume 1 Coming Soon from Abrams ComicArts’ Kana

Set in a cold, post-apocalyptic wasteland, Silence follows a boy and his migrating village as they struggle to survive in a harsh world populated by folkloric monsters.

This January, Kana, an imprint of Abrams ComicArts dedicated to publishing manga in English, will publish Yoann Vornière’s Silence Volume 1. Vornière’s debut series is an exhilarating manga that follows a boy and his migrating village on a journey across a frigid, post-apocalyptic landscape riddled with folkloric monsters.

Originally published in France, Silence Volume 1 takes place in a world of darkness. Now that the sun has disappeared forever behind the clouds, terrifying monsters are free to roam and hunt humans.

A young boy named Saber and his village were cut off from the rest of the world for decades, communicating only with sign language to avoid being detected by the monsters. When a young woman named Lune arrives in the village with a plan for humans to fight the monsters by becoming monsters themselves, everything changes for Saber and his people. The villagers leave everything behind to traverse the mountains that surround them and search for other surviving humans. In order to escape a life devoid of peace, they need to summon something they have long forgotten—the courage to live.

Silence Volume 1 will be published in bookstores on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, and in comic shops on January 15.
