Could this be the long-awaited re-emergence of Jackie Estacado?
As the countdown to the next Witchblade (2024) story arc intensifies, fan speculation regarding the return of The Darkness is reaching a fever pitch. Marguerite Bennett & Giuseppe Cafaro’s Witchblade (2024) #14 promises major revelations, a stunning new costume debut, and heavily rumored ties to The Darkness mythos that have speculators and lore-hunters on high alert. This highly collectible new issue is set to hit shelves this September from Image Comics.
Following the events of Witchblade (2024) #13, New York City Police Detective Sara Pezzini returns to work while her partner clings to life, still reeling from the world-shattering events of last issue and coming to grips with the new nature of the Witchblade. In the City, a deadly serial killer is targeting the homeless, but the crime scenes reveal clues only Sara and the Witchblade can follow. How is a teenage conspiracy theorist involved in all of this, and will Sara be able to stop the killer before they strike again?
The highly successful Witchblade relaunch debuted last year with orders totaling nearly 100K—making it the highest Top Cow launch in over a decade and teeing the tentpole title up for more thrilling reveals throughout its 30th anniversary this year.
Bennett and Cafaro are working closely with Top Cow CEO, Image Comics co-founder, and original Witchblade co-creator, Marc Silvestri, to reintroduce this popular action-packed, crime noir series to longtime die-hard fans and new readers alike. This new Witchblade features a reimagined origin, with contemporary takes on familiar characters, as well as fresh story arcs to hook new fans and rekindle the energy and excitement that fueled the '90s Image Revolution.
The original Witchblade is a comic book series published by Top Cow Productions, which ran from November 1995 to October 2015 and December 2017 to January 2020. The series was created by Marc Silvestri, David Wohl, Brian Haberlin, and Michael Turner. The comic series was made into a TNT television series in 2001 and was directed by Ralph Hemecher and starred Yancy Butler as Sara Pezzini. Later, Top Cow and Japanese animation studio Gonzo produced an anime adaptation of Witchblade, which debuted in 2006.
