FIRST LOOK: Bolt Hunts for Answers as Villains Escape in 'Capes' #2

Today Skybound and Image Comics revealed interior pages, and the lineup of variant covers for Capes #2. Over 20 years since its debut, Capes returns with a special remastering, featuring new art and updated dialogue from the original creative team of Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead, TRANSFORMERS) and Mark Englert (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hack/Slash). Capes #2 lands in comic shops on December 24, 2025! 

Reprinted for the first time since its release, fans and collectors will not want to miss the new monthly releases of Capes. This series is perfect for fans looking to discover every corner of the Invincible Universe as seen in the hit Skybound and Prime Video series, which continues to shatter records worldwide. 

The city’s most dangerous super villains have escaped prison – and this time, it’s personal for Bolt! But who is targeting CAPES? And WHY? 

Capes #2 features a lineup of covers by both Invincible series artists, contributing creator Ryan Ottley and co-creator Cory Walker. The list includes a main cover by Ryan Ottley & Dave McCaig, an open-to-order cover by Mark Englert, a 1:10 incentive variant by Cory Walker, a 1:25 incentive variant by Jahnoy Lindsay, and a 1:50 incentive black-and-white variant by Ryan Ottley.   

Fans can also look forward to all-new Capes stories that will be coming from another longtime friend of the Invincible Universe, writer Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve, Blood & Thunder), alongside artist Mark Englert. Beginning in 2026 with issue #7, this revival of Capes promises to take fans even deeper into unexplored areas of the Invincible Universe.
