Magnetic Press Unleashes Deluxe Hardcovers of MFKZ the Groundbreaking Graphic Novel Series Behind the Animated Feature Film

Mayhem Abounds in Magnetic Press’s Stunning Hardcover Editions of Guillaume "Run" Renard’s Award-winning Comic Which has Taken U.S Audiences by Storm!

This November, Magnetic Press – the Eisner Award-winning publisher of groundbreaking comics and graphic novels from around the world since 2013 – will begin releasing deluxe hardcover editions of Guillaume "Run" Renard’s MFKZ, the internationally acclaimed graphic novel series, starting with the first three thrilling volumes which are arriving just in time for the holidays. Spinning out of Guillaume “Run” Renard’s 2002 short film “Mutafukaz: Operation Blackhead,” MFKZ has grown into the hit Netflix film from Studio 4C (All You Need Is Kill, Tekkonkinkreet) directed by Shôjirô Nishimi and Renard and starring English language voice actors Vince Staples (The Vince Staples Show), Kenn Michael (Saints Row), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, The Mandalorian), Michael Chiklis (The Shield), Danny Trejo (Machete), and RZA (Man with the Iron Fists, Wu-Tang Clan) as well as a groundbreaking graphic novel series and multiple spin-offs.

MFKZ follows the adventures of Angelino. His best friend Vinz has a flaming skull for a head, and their apartment is filled with pet cockroaches. As if that isn’t weird enough, their lives are turned upside down when a scooter accident plunges him into a hurricane of unimaginable troubles, with the fate of humanity on the hook. Heavily armed men in black, gangs of all kinds, and a troop of Mexican wrestlers all collide to face off against vicious cosmic entities determined to invade the planet!

“First realized as an animated short film by Run in 2002, ‘Mutafukaz: Operation Blackhead’ established a world that grew into an entire universe of interrelated characters and conspiracies,” says Magnetic Press Founder and Publisher Mike Kennedy. “The ideas grew beyond the scope of that 7-minute short, and he had no choice but to turn that massive vision into a sprawling 5-volume graphic novel series that set new heights for the medium, capturing the imagination of a hungry audience in the process.”

Hot on the heels of Label 619 and Magnetic Press’ smash-hit Kickstarter campaign for a limited edition MFKZ omnibus, these editions present the visually stunning, mind-bending series in prestige 8x11 hardcovers for fans of action, sci-fi, luchadors, and off-the-wall comics.
