THE COTTON-TAILED EXQUISITE CORPSES KILLER GETS A SPIN-OFF ORIGIN STORY.
The sleepy little town of Aurora Springs, NY, has exactly one claim to fame: it’s the birthplace of Rascal Randy. Not the man in the suit — the man has never mattered. He was no one until he put the mascot head on for the first time, until he felt the life leave someone’s body through the thickly furred gloves of the suit.
No, Aurora Springs is the birthplace of Rascal Randy the rabbit, who, once upon a time, was poised to become the greatest animated character this country had ever seen — until greed and tragedy changed his trajectory forever.
Now, before the events of EXQUISITE CORPSES SEASON 1, witness the final murder spree of this iconic killer, as chaos hops into town with buckteeth bared and ears flopping... and the secret, sordid history of Rascal Randy is finally revealed.

The immensely popular Exquisite Corpses universe from Tiny Onion is branching out with a deliciously dark new spin-off. This time, the spotlight shines on the fan-favorite, rabbit-suited killer: Rascal Randy. Crafted by the talented team of Tyler Boss, Dylan Burnett, and Jordie Bellaire, this limited series retains the flagship's deadly tone and shadowy visuals while introducing an intriguing backstory that frames Rascal as a bizarrely inspirational figure.
The debut issue introduces Lilly, a Navy brat new to Aurora Springs, New York, who shares an awkward relationship with her widowed father. Her world collides with Eli, a bullied local kid who harbors surprising ties to Rascal Randy. Boss deftly sets the table here, drawing readers in with engaging, quiet character moments before seamlessly pivoting into more dangerous territory. Even when he isn't on screen, Rascal’s lore and ominous presence hang heavily over every page.
Artistically, 'Rascal Randy' sets itself apart while still giving nods to 'Exquisite's aesthetic. The darker moodier pages certainly lends itself to the flagship's tense atmosphere but Burnett also separates the series with action sequencing that builds the tension in clever ways. As colorist of both series, Bellaire ties the two together with expert choices of hues and textures.
'Exquisite Corpses: Rascal Randy' #1 is a worthy, must-read supplement for EC fans. It avoids the typical prequel traps by delivering a strong, standalone thriller rather than a paint-by-numbers origin story. Driven by sharp characterization, stellar pacing, and flawless execution, this is exactly how you build excitement for a spin-off.
