Clover Press Announces an All-New Creator Owned Imprint THE FOURTH LEAF

Bloody and Pulpy Stories To Invigorate and Ignite The Future

The boutique, San Diego-based publisher Clover Press is synonymous with quality publications — from their deluxe, re-mastered reprints of classic newspaper strips to their high-end, collectible art books that celebrate the biggest artists and characters in comics. Now, in the wake of the company’s first-ever nomination for a prestigious Will Eisner Award and ahead of Comic-Con International 2026, Clover Press is announcing The Fourth Leaf, a new line of creator-owned comics and graphic novels. Clover Press' creator-owned line will kick off later this year with all-new work from beloved duo Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard and horror legend Steve Niles, along with a deluxe, oversized new edition of Sean Lewis and Jonathan Marks Barravecchia's critically acclaimed BEAR PIRATE VIKING QUEEN.

Originally co-founded in 2019 by IDW Publishing co-founders Ted Adams and Robbie Robbins, Clover Press’ impressive publishing line-up includes acclaimed art books with Marvel and DC Comics, publications from The Library of American Comics, and buzzworthy new comics like Armored, a spooky, supernatural series by screenwriter Michael Schwartz and artist Ismael Hernandez that’s won accolades from the likes of Dan Ackroyd and R. L. Stine, and The Mask of Haliya, an inspiring YA urban fantasy graphic novel inspired by Philippine mythology, written by Cecilia and Waverley Lim and Kaitlyn Fajilan, with art from Susan Bin and Vik Caedo.

“We’re living in an unparalleled time of creativity and opportunity in the comic book industry,” said Clover Press Publisher Hank Kanalz. “We may not have flying cars (yet) and we may not be living on space stations (yet), but we are absolutely living in the future of near endless creative possibilities. It’s our distinct pleasure at Clover Press to spotlight some of the stories that resonate deeply with us, and connect them directly to readers looking for something new and different. These are bold, bloody and pulpy stories by fearless creators, and we’re proud to provide them a place to create without limits. These are stories to invigorate and ignite the future.”

The first round of the upcoming creator-owned comics are eclectic, exciting, and now on Kickstarter, where fans can sign up to be notified by email when the campaigns launch. The first three titles in the new Clover Press creator owned imprint are:

I LOVE APOCALYPTIC ZOMBIE MISFITS by Doug Wagner and Daniel Hillyard

From the creative team behind Image Comic’s PLASTIC, PLUSH, VINYL, I WAS A FASHION SCHOOL SERIAL KILLER, and NARCO comes a brand new graphic novel that blends the dark comedy and horror they’re known for with a wild supernatural twist, all delivered with their signature irreverent humor.

Resurrected in a vat of holy motor oil, a nerdy pacifist finds himself trapped inside the hulking body of a supernatural slasher and forced to protect a psychic kid from the forces of Heaven, Hell, and everything in between. It’s a lot to process, but at least he’s got a Halloween mask and a squad of homicidal chickens!

"We are thrilled to be expanding Clover Press’s line of publications to include more original creator-owned content. We’re starting slowly, and are adding books that we like to read to our line,” said Clover Press Co-Founder and Senior Art Director Robbie Robbins. “A Clover Press publication means a combination of quality content with a higher end format - we like to have fun making books and hope you’ll have as much enjoyment reading them."
