Luana Vecchio Unveils Haunting Connecting Cover Series for 'Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives'

The Bride Awakens. A New Nightmare Begins This October from Kelly Thompson & Mattia De Iulis!


Today Skybound and Image Comics, in partnership with Universal Products & Experiences, revealed a connecting covers series by acclaimed artist Luana Vecchio (Lovesick) for Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives. The new four-issue comic book series from the Eisner-Award winning writer Kelly Thompson (Absolute Wonder Woman, Black Widow) and her longtime creative collaborator, Eisner-Award nominated artist Mattia De Iulis (Absolute Wonder Woman, The Cull) debuts in comic book ships on October 28, 2026. 

Luana Vecchio’s beautifully illustrated connecting cover series comes together to form one continuous piece of artwork, creating a haunting, gothic portrait of the Universal Monsters icon across all four issues of Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives.

“I’m incredibly grateful not only for the opportunity to contribute to a franchise as monumental as Universal Monsters, but for the chance to give my own contribution to such an iconic character as the Bride of Frankenstein,” said Luana Vecchio. “I felt I was the right person to do her justice, but when I read Kelly’s pitch and reached the ending, with a few tears in my eyes, I realized I was contributing to something truly special. Creating this connecting cover is my way of paying tribute not only to the story of an iconic character, but above all to the story of a woman who is trying to recover her own story and, first and foremost, to reclaim it.”

With no memory of her past or understanding of what she is, The Bride took her first steps into the world and was...displeased. Now, she must discover where and who she came from and begin what every living thing begins...the process of staying alive. 

Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives is the eighth Universal Monsters series launch, following James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds’ Dracula (which netted Simmonds a BEST PAINTER / MULTIMEDIA ARTIST (INTERIOR ART) Eisner Award nomination), Ram V, Dan Watters, and Matthew Roberts’ Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives!, Michael Walsh’s Frankenstein, Faith Erin Hick’s The Mummy, James Tynion IV and DANI’s The Invisible Man (which recently netted Tynion IV a BEST WRITER Eisner Award nomination), Tyler Boss and Martin Simmonds’ Phantom of the Opera, and most recently, Joshua Williamson and Leomacs’  Blood of the Wolf Man.
