The hit werewolf crime story continues!  BLACK'S MYTH #3 Writer: Eric Palicki Artist: Wendell Cavalcanti Publisher: Ahoy Comics Release Date: September 15, 2021 Cover Price: $3.99 Out of leads and quickly running out of time, Strummer and Ben are willing to talk to anyone who might know anything. All AHOY books come with short stories and other great extras! Score: ★★★★☆ (4/5) Poor Strummer. The case of the missing silver bullets is going nowhere and after brawling with vampires and seeking help from a supernatural sage, she may be ready to throw in the towel. Issue three of 'Black's Myth' provides some interesting characters but the mystery only gets murkier.  Eric Palicki gives our favorite werewolf detective some dead ends (pun intended) to really challenge her resolve. Even the vampires make some ...

KICKSTARTER SPOTLIGHT: 'Pocus Hocus' by Allen Dunford, Will Radford, Brian Balondo, and Jasen Smith

What if The Prestige, Death Note, and Psycho Goreman had a decadent lovechild? POCUS HOCUS is a dark magician story where magic is all too real. So real, it results in the protagonist making a pact with the devil. But what happens when this disillusioned magician wants his soul back? Co-written by Allen Dunford and Will Radford, POCUS HOCUS is a hilarious Faustian tale that is part Death Note , part The Prestige , with a decadently delectable dash of Psycho Goreman thrown in the mix. With art by Brian Balondo, coloring by Jasen Smith, and letting/design by Dave Lentz, the resulting look and feel is an extremely enjoyable comic book appealing to horror and fantasy fans in equal measure. Bad Bug publisher Mike Tener had this to say about POCUS HOCUS: “ Pocus Hocus is as dumb as the name suggests...and it's better for it! Its self-awareness is its truest strength: it's both disturbing and funny precisely where and when it intends to be. I'm in love with the vibrant colo...

Save for the opening sequence, issue three takes a more investigative pace with new revelations that provide some shocking details about the Daylight organization. It's the most in-depth issue, with more dialogue, exposition, and flowcharts? You'll see.  Up to this point, ...

PRIMORDIAL #1 Writer: Jeff Lemire Artist: Andrea Sorrentino, Dave Stewart Letterer: Steve Wands Publisher: Image Comics Release Date: September 15, 2021 Cover Price: $3.99 In 1957, the USSR launched the dog, Laika, into Earth's orbit. And now they are coming home. Score:  ★★★★1/2 (4.5/5) Few things can pique the interest of a comic book reader like a good ole conspiracy thriller. The latest example is the excellent new series from James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds entitled 'The Department of Truth' that's been a bestseller for Image Comics. It proposes conspiracy theories can be all-too-real and for Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino, and Dave St...
